This site contains information about the salmon unit covered in CAM Jr High. The school participates in the the Clark County PUD Salmon in the Classroom program, which includes use of a fish tank suitable for hatching salmon eggs, curriculum material, and other salmon-related resources. Due to the importance of salmon in the Pacific Northwest, and the opportunities we have to raise salmon and conduct water quality tests on a salmon stream (the East Fork of the Lewis River), the topic provides a meaningful opportunity to examine and apply numerous life science and environmental science concepts. Some of the information covered during the unit: life cycle, anatomy, habitat, food webs and energy roles, human influences, and resource management. |
